David CarrickDavid Carrick - Chief Executive Officer

As Memex’s Chief Executive Officer, David Carrick’s main focus is on ensuring Memex’s maintains its market leading position as a software solutions provider to the intelligence community, taking the company into new markets and growing revenue.

Carrick’s career began with him taking up the post of Software Engineer at Ferranti Computer Systems in 1987, having completed a BSc (Honours) in Computing Science at Liverpool University. In 1988 he moved to Polaroid where he quickly assumed control of an entire development team, building in-house systems to provide real-time quality control information throughout the manufacturing process of cameras.

In 1990 Carrick joined Memex, and began developing the company’s core technology for United States Department of Defence agencies. His career at Memex progressed rapidly from then on, with promotion through various technical and managerial positions. During this time David managed projects for several major clients, including the Metropolitan Police, the National Criminal Intelligence Service (NCIS) and the Defense Intelligence Agency (USA).

In 1998 David was promoted to Operations Director, and in 1999 to Managing Director. In the same year David led a successful management buyout from the then parent company, and completed an MBA from the Strathclyde University Graduate Business School.

In 2001 David became Chief Executive Officer of Memex Technology Ltd, and since his appointment has grown the company organically from a small Scottish company to a global organization, increasing turnover by an average 25 per cent each year. Under his stewardship the company has also achieved numerous accolades, including ”Runner Up” in the Scottish Software Awards 2006, and David himself was a finalist in the Entrepreneurial Exchange’s ‘Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year’ awards in 2005, and a finalist in the Ernst & Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ awards in 2007.

Mark GibsonMark Gibson, SVP Operations EMEA and Asia Pacific

Mark is the Senior Vice President of Operations for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), and the Asia Pacific regions. Mark is heavily involved in building the company's already strong reputation in the law enforcement industries in the UK and US, and has expanded the Memex solution into the commercial sector.

Mark works closely with Memex's UK and International customers and partners to build on their established successes.

Stephen DanielsStephen Daniels – Vice President and General Manager, Memex Inc.

As Vice President and General Manager, Stephen Daniels is responsible for the expansion of Memex across the Americas including sales, business development and day-to-day operations for the company.

Stephen has more than 25 years of "customer centric" experience, holding key positions at several technology companies. Prior to joining Memex, Stephen was Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales at a major security technology organisation, where he built the sales organization from the ground up, generating significant commercial and government wins.

Stephen has held a number of positions in hi-tech (Oracle, Siebel Systems, Peregrine Systems), government (Internal Revenue Service), and security sectors (SecureInfo). Stephen holds graduate and undergraduate degrees from San Francisco State University.


Graham ScottGraham Scott – Chief Financial Officer

Graham joined Memex in July 2006 and has responsibility for the financial affairs of the Memex Group in both Europe and the US. He manages day-to-day activities which include treasury, financial reporting and negotiation and execution of customer and supplier contracts.

Graham obtained a BSc (Hons) in Marine Biology from Heriot-Watt University, and went on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant.  A member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland, Graham held positions in his early career as Trainee Accountant and then Manager with Stoy Hayward.

Graham went on to become Assistant Director in the Corporate Finance division of Ernst & Young, and for seven years he was the CFO of Quadstone Limited, where he was involved in raising $55m of equity finance. During this period, Graham also ran a separate UK software division selling internationally into the US, Far East and Australasia, both directly and through resellers. Graham has extensive experience managing overseas operations and dealing with customers in the commercial sector.
