Case Management Technology

Case Management, from a law enforcement perspective, relates to the ongoing management of crimes of a serious nature, enabling investigators to constantly understand what has happened and what action is being taken.  Managed by investigative staff, cases require a plethora of information to be recorded and tasks to be carried out:

  • Compiling multiple reports
  • Tracking evidence
  • Conducting surveillance activity
  • Recording suspect information
  • Contacting informants
  • Managing other investigative procedures and activity
  • And much more

Limitations of traditional Case Management Technology

Case Management goes far beyond an initial report on the incident, where traditional RMS (Records Management Systems) within Law Enforcement agencies are simply not designed to cope.  Furthermore, when multiple agencies are working on a case as part of a task force, independence of system ownership is usually preferred.

Memex Case Management Technology

All Investigators working on a case need all investigative information, to be tracked and managed for future court presentation. Memex Case Management Technology provides a single platform for all case and intelligence management needs.

Far more than a RMS, it acts as an information store for all investigatory work carried out beyond the simple and initial recording of an incident.  Unlike your central intelligence system, however, all information stored in an electronic case within the Memex Case Management solution may not yet be “true” intelligence”, whereby a reasonable suspicion of activity has already been confirmed.

Within the Memex system you can:

  • Create a case and then add information to that case in the form of supplementary reports, investigative records and ongoing activity
  • Ensure that all vital information on people, objects, locations and events is recorded
  • Manage cases from conception through prosecution, capturing the day-to-day activity of investigative staff
  • Store all relevant information on a case in one location, including everything that has taken place, regardless of the agency involved.
  • This information can later be used at prosecution to present and recount what has happened
  • Track time and expenditure, measuring the operation in hand for efficiency and effectiveness and helping you find better ways of doing things
