Peter Ship - Industry Specialist, UK law enforcement

Peter Ship joined Memex in June 2008, having retired as a Detective Chief Inspector in the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). Since joining Memex, Peter has worked with customers in both law enforcement and the commercial sector to develop and improve their intelligence systems. Peter has led the development of Memex’s ‘End to End Policing Solution’ for UK Law enforcement. This includes the recently released Integrated ‘Crime and Intelligence Management Solution’ and the updated ‘Covert Human Intelligence Source’ System. The ongoing development of the end to end Solution is based upon the National Intelligence Model ethos of managing all information, as well as maximising the practical benefits of technological advances to improve performance.

Peter was a serving Police Officer for 30 years, working predominantly in New Scotland Yard’s (NSY) Specialist Crime Directorate, investigating organised and serious crime. During this time he received an exceptional ten commendations for leading successful major enquiries.

Peter was involved in the collation, management and use of intelligence in numerous roles and has been instrumental in the development of NSY Intelligence Units. Indeed, during the last three years of his Police career, Peter led the strategic review of intelligence systems.

Stephen G. Serrao - Industry specialist, US law enforcement

Steve Serrao

Stephen Serrao joined the Memex professional services consultancy department in May 2006, delivering system design and configuration and user and administrative training for customers in the Americas region. Prior to joining Memex, Steve was a high ranking intelligence commander with the New Jersey State Police. He retired in 2006 at the rank of Captain after twenty-five years’ service, spanning assignments such as Intelligence Management & Analysis, Counter-Terrorism, and a role as Special Assistant to the Superintendent.

Today Steve brings to Memex a unique combination of operational police intelligence experience and advanced information technology skills. A graduate of the New Jersey State Police Academy, he is currently studying for a bachelor's degree from Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, N.J. and has completed several advanced courses in Intelligence theory and analytical process.

In addition, Steve has travelled extensively throughout the Americas and Europe to share ideas with law enforcement professionals on three continents, and has addressed diverse audiences on the topic of Intelligence Management and Analysis.

As Director of Product Management for Memex Technology Inc, Steve is now responsible for the Law Enforcement Solutions Product Line in the Americas Region which includes North, Central, South America and the Caribbean. His role provides a critical interface between Memex clients and the Memex product development team which ensures that the company’s product offerings meet client needs.

John Gillon - Industry specialist, UK law enforcement

John Gillon

John Gillon joined Memex in September 2009 having retired as a Detective Superintendent in Strathclyde police.

In a police career spanning 30 years John Gillon has developed a professional profile incorporated many specialist roles in which he accrued extensive experience in the investigation of national security matters and serious crime. His postings included; Special Branch, Force Intelligence Bureau and Covert Operations.

Furthermore, John has been immersed in a national programme of ICT enabled change and led the Scottish Information Management Project, a central enabler for the national change programme of the Association of Chief Police Officers, Scotland (ACPOS). The principal tenet of the programme being to deliver common integrated information and communication systems.
 

Dale Peet - Principal Consultant

Dale Peet joined Memex in October 2010 as a Principal Consultant bringing his 23 years of police experience to strengthen customer implementations, product development and training for Memex’s solution.

In Dale’s role as Commander of the Michigan Intelligence Operations Center (MIOC) he supervised the implementation of the Memex system, and coordinated much of the vision, installation, training, and day-to-day use of the technology. 

Dale’s veteran expertise in real-world intelligence work gives him knowledge of best practices in gathering, collating, tracking, analyzing and disseminating intelligence information, to fight street gangs, organized crime, terrorism and other crimes.  Just as important, he knows how to establish operations in compliance with State and Federal laws pertaining to the protection of citizens’ privacy rights. 

At Memex, Dale will join colleagues in a client-facing role, working with agencies and partners to provide high-quality information technology software and consulting services on-site.  He will fulfill a managerial role that combines high-level consultative skills with hands-on technical delivery.

Prior to joining Memex, Dale worked his way up through the ranks of the Michigan State Police, starting as a State Trooper, with promotions to Detective Sergeant, Detective Lieutenant, and Commander, and ultimately  finishing his career as the Commander of the MIOC, where he managed a staff of 45 employees in operations and intelligence.  Over time, Dale’s increasing role evaluating intelligence management platforms, and managing IT projects and technology deployments gave him invaluable experience, directly relevant to his new role at Memex.  Dale retired from the Michigan State Police on September 30.
