Belize Deploys Memex Software and Services
Agreement Expands Upon Earlier Deployment to Add Nine Agencies, Including Customs Department, Immigration Department and Belize Defense Force
VIENNA, Va. – March 9, 2009 – Memex, Inc., the leading worldwide provider of intelligence management, data integration, search and analysis solutions, today announced a new agreement with the Belize Ministry of National Security. The agreement calls for the deployment of Memex software and services at the country’s nine national security agencies to counter violent gang activity, trans-border crimes and human trafficking.
Memex software and services enable law enforcement agencies to manage and retrieve intelligence that prevents all types of crime. By providing the people, experience and trusted solutions, Memex helps organizations uncover and connect patterns of information on people and events through the entire intelligence lifecycle.
Memex will provide an enterprise license covering each Belize national security agency, including the Belize City Crime Investigation Branch, the Belize City Patrol Branch, Special Branch, Immigration, Coast Guard, Customs Investigations Unit, the Belize Defense Force Military Investigations, Transportation and Prisons.
"Memex provides the framework for every national security agency in Belize to have the ability to share information," said Neil Schlisserman, Vice President of Memex Americas. "We have made a commitment to speed-of-delivery, education, consulting, customer satisfaction and project management to ensure our customers realize the full potential of our solution."
A Central American country about the size of Massachusetts, Belize initially deployed Memex software and services in 2007 at the Belize Police Department, the country’s national police service, specifically for its Crime and Intelligence Management Unit. The technology was used to manage national intelligence and arrest records.
“We quickly saw the value of this initial deployment and started using the Memex solution for many other initiatives within our Ministry,” said Lloyd Gillett, Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of National Security and a retired Brigadier General. “Later, we determined that the Memex system was robust enough to support our entire national security infrastructure, so we purchased an enterprise license and expanded the system so that all members of our security community can use it.”
Belize is using the Memex platform for intelligence management, records management, booking and custody, search and analysis, and geographic information – a true end-to-end data system.
Memex expands the availability and usability of intelligence through configurable software, flexible workforce management, multi-level security and a robust platform for information sharing.
