Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Deploys SAS Public Security Software and Services Across Country

6,000 Sworn Officers to Leverage Memex Intelligence Platform

MARLOW, UK, September 2011

SAS, a leading provider of intelligence management, data integration, search and analysis solutions, today announced a new agreement with the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, calling for the deployment of SAS public security software and services in support of the national police force’s 6,000 sworn officers.

Law enforcement officials will counter gangs and drug activity, kidnapping and other serious crimes with the Memex intelligence management system from SAS.The Memex system will be used by approximately 40 investigators and analysts in the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU), Special Branch, and Organised Crime, Narcotics and Fraud Bureau (OCNFB).

SAS public security software and services enable law enforcement agencies to manage and retrieve intelligence that prevents all types of crime. By providing the people, experience and trusted solutions, SAS helps organisations uncover and connect patterns of information on people and events through the entire intelligence lifecycle.

The Memex Patriarch platform will manage intelligence and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)for the Police Force.

“SAS gives the Trinidad and Tobago Police Force the capability of information sharing to mitigate criminal elements in its country,” said Mark Gibson, Sales and Marketing Director, Public Security, SAS. “SAS has made a commitment to speed-of-delivery, education, consulting, customer satisfaction and project management to ensure our customers realise the full potential of our solution.”

The Southern Caribbean country is about the size of Delaware and has a population of 1.3million citizens.

“Using the Memex system gives us a powerful tool in our fight against serious crimes and criminal elements,” said Brent Meade, Head of Information Technology at the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service. “Memex Patriarch provides us a single-source portal for analysing SAR and other intelligence sources in one place, using the same data mining tools and user interface, rather than having to log on and off different systems.” Meade believes the system will be key in the fight against gangs, firearms and drugs.

SAS expands the availability and usability of intelligence through configurable software, flexible workforce management, multi-level security and a robust platform for information sharing.
