Data Sharing and IntergrationTechnology

Organizations need to access the widest pool of information available to facilitate good decision-making and the right actions.  There are two options available for accessing this data:  build new data repositories or mine existing ones.  Many customer organizations use both, but many suppliers only provide one capability.

Organizations need to select the most appropriate data access mechanism based on the individual data source.  In this way, they can leverage the value of existing data repositories, but also consider the performance implications of these choices.  With this in mind, organizations need a solution which:

  • Enables rapid mining of existing data repositories
  • Facilities information sharing via National Data Sharing standards (such as NIEM) and platforms
  • Allows organizations to access data and information contained in other systems
  • Allows data to be transferred or replicated into applications
  • Has fast, effective data export capabilities
  • Ensures compliance with civil liberty and privacy  statutes

Memex Data Integration Capability

The Memex data integration capability meets all of the above criteria, and provides a foundation for aggregating and examining RMS, CAD, Intelligence, SAR, open-source and other data sources.  It also provides a single source portal for information analysis, and empowers analysts and makes them more efficient.  Notable benefits include:

  • Continuous information streaming – Officer and public safety are reliant on up-to-date, quality information
  •  Federated Search – Permits seamless search access to external data sources within a common user interface
  • Extendable/Flexible data and attribute model – Existing data sources often contain information not incorporated in national standards.  Memex provides a simple mechanism for expanding our entities to include this additional information, unlike many other organizations
  • C# based Macro scripting in clients – allows direct front-end integration with existing services for verification, Geo-coding, multimedia integration and other business processes
  • Web Service Interfaces, which opens Memex for integration with 3rd-party applications – Our platform exposes business layer logic through Web Services – this is extensible in line with evolving business process change and can be further enhanced to be exposed as a full ESB service.
  • ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) tools to increase productivity and efficiencies while simplify the execution of  this work

Data Import

Data export

1. The Memex Data Loader
  • Generic
  • Uses industry-recognised XML format
  • Extract data from native data sources
  • Transform it into a format that can be imported into the Memex system
  • Primarily used to bulk-load large quantities of data into a Memex system on a periodic basis
  • Can create, delete and move Memex databases
  • Can append, delete and edit records from the Memex databases.
  • An organisation can use any data source available to it by submitting XML files in conformance with published schemas
2. Continuous stream importing

Records continuously streamed into Memex - SOAP interface

Real-time environment created Search results 100% live

3. Federated Search
  • Use Memex Federated Search technology
  • Access and search any available data source - internally and externally
  • Expand information pool to maximise analysis and minimise threats
  • Memex facilitates the export of data to a variety of sources
  • Simple flat and XML files are used
  • Data exported by default in a CSV format
  • Export file format may be configured to meet specific customer needs
  • XML files are exported to a schema specified by Memex
  • Export generates schema files to accompany the data exported in XML format
  • Process allows large quantities of data to be “dumped” from the system
