Choosing Memex: Return on Investment
Delivering intelligence management solutions is the core business of Memex Technology and we have a track record of delivering value-for-money solutions that effectively support police operations
Memex® does not sell generic solutions ‘adapted’ to work across the public sector. We specialise in the design, development and implementation of intelligence and information management solutions to UK police forces, international law enforcement and government agencies, as well as private industry. Our solutions are used globally every minute of every day to combat serious and organised crime, fraud and terrorism.
With more than 50% of a force’s time potentially spent on dealing with criminals and providing operational and business support, the efficiency and capability of a force’s police and civilian staff is critical in all efforts to deliver value for money.
The complex demands of crime and incident management require smart and effective tools. Memex specialises in mission-critical enterprise search solutions with proven expertise in data integration, enterprise search and analysis technologies - which ensure these needs are met
Memex’s partnership approach to the development and implementation of these solutions, combined with an industry standard approach to software development, ensures that all user requirements are met. We believe in transparency over system implementation and lifetime costs – not hidden development costs, expensive software add-ons or excessive maintenance fees.
We also understand that no police forces are exactly alike and that customer requirements can change and evolve over time. Memex solutions are uniquely designed to cope with the flexibility required by UK police forces.
A key strength of the core Memex platform and solution is the ability to change both the content of entities and the solution workflow post-implementation. This enables system administrators to respond quickly to developing business needs and helps forces to manage the lifetime costs of a new solution.
Memex solutions simply offer customers flexibility and the ability to innovate – with our experience in developing and delivering effective law-enforcement solutions making us a low-risk IT procurement option.
When you want proven and effective intelligence management solutions developed by a company dedicated to end-to-end information management systems choose Memex Technology.

Customer Case Studies:
1. In 2009 Surrey Police selected Memex Technology to deliver an enterprise-wide information management system - one of the biggest IT implementations in the UK law enforcement community. The solution, to be implemented in phases over three years, joins all of Surrey Police’s key police business functions, systems and sources under one platform.
This system, internally dubbed ‘Siren’, will ultimately link all of the Force’s information by incorporating Memex’s Intelligence, Events, Custody Case and Covert Solutions. The Memex solution will allow Surrey Police to:
- · Give all users across the force a valuable tool to predict, prevent and respond to crime
- · Help free police time, reduce reliance on paperwork
- · Improve the quality of information held in systems
- · Assist the force to meet the challenge of reducing budgets
The Memex solution will go live with Surrey Police in 2011 and be fully operational before the 2012 London Olympics, helping the force respond effectively to the policing challenges this global event will bring.
Surrey Police Chief Constable Mark Rowley said: “The new enterprise system will help us to maintain that status by increasing our ability to deliver our business with the benefit of a comprehensive knowledge of the issues in hand, improving service and reducing risk to public and police…”
2) In America, Memex is currently used in fifteen ‘Fusion’ centres, making Memex the largest software supplier to these information and intelligence-sharing bodies nationally.
The State of Michigan selected Memex Technology in 2009 to deploy the state’s primary criminal intelligence platform, which will provide access to more than 600 law enforcement agencies, more than 21,000 police officers as well as numerous state and federal departments.
The platform, known as the Michigan Criminal Intelligence System, will be run by the Michigan State Police and will be used in the Michigan Intelligence Operations Center for Homeland Security and the state’s Fusion Center. Fusion Centers across the US promote information sharing between agencies such as the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Justice and state and local government
The Michigan solution will use the Memex intelligence system to gather, collate, track, analyse and disseminate terrorism intelligence information. It will also be used to counter conventional criminal activity, including street gangs, organised crime and volume crime
